Investment Process
IDEA Fund Partners has a rigorous, yet efficient investment process that is designed to make sound investment decisions and manage our portfolio. Our due diligence and investment commitment process typically takes 3-4 months to complete. Below are the stages by which we conduct this process:
Initial Deal Review
IDEA Fund Partners first reviews the executive summary and/or business plan of the prospective company. If applicable, representatives of the company will be asked to give an overview presentation of the company.
Preliminary Due Diligence
IDEA Fund Partners staff will perform basic research to determine whether the prospective company and investment could potentially be consistent with our investment criteria and philosophy.
Core Due Diligence
IDEA Fund Partners staff will perform due diligence activities in order to assess the prospective company’s potential to address the aspects of our investment criteria and philosophy.
Deal Commitment
As appropriate, the IDEA Fund Partners partnership discusses and determines whether the investment opportunity is worthy of a formal commitment, usually via a term sheet submission to the company.
Formal Due Diligence
Upon Commitment Committee approval, IDEA Fund Partners performs final due diligence preceding deal closing.
Deal Closing
Terms of the investment are finalized and approved.
