Paul Headshot.jpgPaul is currently an angel investor with interests in wellness, healthy aging and biomedical devices. He is the lead investor and Chairman of Audigence, a software company focused on personalizing the performance of cochlear implants, hearing aids and cellular phones to optimize a user’s speech intelligibility. Previously, Paul served as CEO of Optium Corporation, an early stage fiber optics company, and led capital raises of $55 million in venture funding. Optium became a publicly traded company in 2006 and following its merger with Finisar is the largest fiber optics company in the world. Prior, Paul served as Vice President of JDS Uniphase’s EPD Division. He had been the co- founder and Vice President of United Technologies Photonics (UTP) which was acquired by Uniphase Corporation. Paul’s career began as a Research Scientist at United Technologies Research Center where he did pioneering work on integrated optical circuits for fiber optic gyroscopes, broadband analog links and high-speed communications. Paul received his BSEE, ME, and Ph.D. from the University of Florida and was recently inducted into the University of Florida’s ECE Academy.
