Investment Philosophy
IDEA Fund Partners employs the following guiding principles as the foundation for our investment strategy:
- We like to invest in promising technology startups as early as possible, including as first money invested.
- We look for companies that we feel confident will have a sustainable competitive advantage for several years to come.
- We like companies with at least one outstanding management team member who will be with the company for the foreseeable future.
- We look for deals where several of the components of inherent technology startup risk – management, product, IP, market, business model, and exit– are already mitigated.
- We invest in companies in which we can provide value that goes simply beyond giving them money.
- We put money in deals with investment partners that we know, trust, and feel confident can provide value to the company.
- We invest in companies in which we can reasonably envision a desirable exit within 3-5 years.
- We seek investment returns that are commensurate with the stage of the company and the level of perceived investment risk.
