Juan Carlos Pacheco is a Senior Associate at IDEA Fund Partners, bringing a diverse background in entrepreneurship, law, and venture capital to the firm. He joined IDEA Fund Partners in October 2024, where he focuses on investing in transformative technology startups across the Southeast.
Prior to his role at IDEA Fund Partners, Juan Carlos was the Co-Founder and CEO of ExstoMD, a digital health startup that leveraged AI and evidence-based therapies to revolutionize chronic disease management. He led ExstoBio from December 2021 to October 2024.
Juan Carlos's entrepreneurial experience also includes founding and serving as the Managing Partner of Pacheco Law Firm, which specializes in providing legal services to startups and growing businesses, offering fractional general counsel services and covering a wide range of legal needs. Additionally, Juan Carlos brings private equity experience within the sponsored search fund space through his past role as EIR Associate at NextGen Growth Partners.
His involvement in the startup ecosystem extends beyond his own ventures. Juan Carlos has been a mentor at Techstars, contributing to their AI Health accelerator program. He was also a Venture Founder in LBAN's Startup Accelerator at Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2024 and he continues to mentor various startup founders as they find product market fit and look to scale rapidly. Juan Carlos’ role in venture capital also includes participation as a Venture Fellow at Material Change Institute and as a mentor for the Creative Destruction Lab.
He has also participated in several prestigious legal clerkships, including positions with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina and with a Senior Judge of the United States Courts.
Juan Carlos holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he focused on Entrepreneurship & Venture Capital. He also earned an MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, specializing in Venture Capital, Investments & Entrepreneurship. Juan Carlos played Division I soccer and studied Biology at Lipscomb University before completing his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and the Liberal Arts from Saint Joseph Seminary College.
